What does Sattvic Food mean?Sattvic food helps one sit in silence for long time because the senses are not hyper-active. A diet that is wholly conducive to the practice of silence and one's transformation is called Sattvic diet. Diet is directly connected to how mind functions because mind is formed out of the subtlest portion of food. An ancient sage said: "Food, when consumed becomes threefold: the gross particles become excrement, the middle ones flesh and the fine ones the mind. When food is consumed, the fine particles which rise upwards, form the mind. That proves, the mind is food. Again, by the purity of food one becomes purified in one's inner nature; by the purification of one's inner nature one touches one's Self. When you touch the Self, all ever-assumed bondage and attachments fall away. That's the end of suffering.
